Navakavu – Community based marine resource management in Fiji

In understanding effective marine management, the project aims to support communities in its five partner countries to learn about existing management practices. In the toolbox and action guide lessons from the Yavusa Navakavu are highlighted. The booklet tells the story of how a small Fijian tribe came to be one of the first successful locally managed marine areas in Fiji and describes from the villagers own perspectives the ups and downs, suggestions and lessons learnt of having their own Locally Managed Marine Area.
